About Speechify
Speechify reads text aloud — web pages, documents, PDFs and photographed pages — in apps for iPhone and iPad, Android, Chrome, Edge, the web, Mac and Windows. People use it to get through a reading load faster, to rest their eyes, or because reading on a screen is slow or tiring for them. Its pricing page (read 16 October 2026) lists a Free plan with 10 robotic-sounding voices and listening speeds up to 1.5x, and Premium at $29 a month on monthly billing, with 1,000+ natural-sounding voices in 60+ languages, speeds up to 5x, Scan & Listen for printed pages, AI summaries and chat, Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive integrations, voice typing, AI podcasts and a voice assistant. Yearly billing is labelled 'save 60%', but the page does not print the yearly price, so the $139-a-year figure this directory used to list has been removed; check the annual price at checkout. Studio, for voice-over production, and the API are priced on separate pages. The limits: the jump from Free to Premium is large because the natural voices are the product; very high speeds take practice to follow; and it reads rather than explains, with the AI summaries as the exception. ElevenLabs on this site is the tool for producing voice-overs rather than listening, and Otter.ai goes the other way, from speech to text. Verdict: genuinely useful for heavy readers, commuters and anyone who absorbs text better by ear — try the free voices first, and buy annually if it sticks.
Best For
Students, professionals with heavy reading loads, commuters and anyone who takes in text better by listening. Not for producing commercial voice-overs, where a voice-generation tool fits, or for anyone satisfied with their device's built-in read-aloud.

The bar under a price compares that plan with the dearest monthly plan in this table (6 of the 13 rows are flat monthly prices). Custom, per-seat, per-usage and annual prices are not on the same scale, so they carry no bar — a missing bar does not mean cheaper.
