Runway is the video generator to compare everything else against, mostly because of what its pricing page (read 16 October 2026) lists on each plan. The Free plan is free for ever with 125 one-time credits that do not expire and 5 GB of storage; Standard is shown at $12 a month billed annually with $15 struck through, for 625 credits a month and access to Gen-4.5, Gen-4 Turbo, Aleph 2.0 and third-party models including Kling 3.0 and Seedance; Pro is $28 billed annually ($35 struck through) with 2,250 credits and Topaz AI upscaling; Max is $76 billed annually ($95 struck through) with 9,500 credits and 500 GB of storage. Credits are the unit — every generation spends some, more for longer or higher-resolution clips — and on Standard and Pro unused credits do not roll over, while Max allows one month to carry across. Around the generators sit the editing tools: motion brush, image-to-video, text-to-video and the rest of the toolkit that made it a professional standard. The limits are the category's: short clips, not continuous scenes; a usable shot often takes several regenerations, which is your real cost per clip; and the page shows the discounted annual rate more prominently than the monthly one, so check what you will actually be billed. PixVerse on this site is the lighter, social-first alternative; Synthesia is for presenter-led explainers rather than generative footage. Verdict: the most capable and most transparently documented choice here for filmmakers and content teams; the Free credits are enough to find out whether your shots work.
