Where Perplexity reads the open web, Elicit reads the literature. You type a research question and it searches a corpus its pricing page puts at more than 138 million papers, returns the relevant studies, summarises each one and lets you chat with the full text; the step that makes it different is the table — pick the papers, name the columns you want extracted (sample size, method, outcome) and it fills the grid, with the source passage behind every cell. Elicit's pricing page (read 16 October 2026) keeps paper search, summaries, full-text chat and Zotero import free on the Basic plan, with limited use of the Research Agent and reports. Pro is $49 per user a month, or $588 billed annually, and is the plan for systematic reviews: a dedicated workflow that can screen 5,000 papers, 20 table columns at a time, custom extractions and API access. Scale is $169 per user a month ($2,028 annually) with five times the usage, figure extraction and live team editing; Enterprise is quoted. The limits: it covers what is in its index, it will not replace reading the papers that matter, and extracted values should be spot-checked against the source before they go into a review. Consensus, also on this site, is the lighter tool when you only need to know which way the evidence leans. Verdict: the best fit here for anyone who has to produce a literature review or evidence table; overkill for a one-off question.
